Varicose Vein
What are Varicose Veins?
Veins are the highways of the body. They carry blood pumped by the heart along a network of “roads” (arteries and veins) to bring oxygen to all parts of the body. The body’s natural movement helps pump blood back to the heart, which sends it out again in a continuous cycle.
All veins have valves that act like traffic signals, opening and closing to make sure blood is always flowing the correct direction. Varicose veins are veins with broken valves. In a varicose vein, blood flows backward and stays in the vein. This causes the vein to expand, stretch, and become twisted, which prevents it from circulating blood effectively.
What is endovenous laser varicose vein surgery?
Endovenous laser varicose vein surgery is a procedure that uses heat from a laser to reduce varicose veins. Varicose veins are swollen, bulging veins that often happen on the thighs or calves. A laser is a device that sends a thin beam of radiation in the form of light.
Laser surgery closes and shrinks the varicose vein and causes scar tissue within the vessel. This seals off the vein. Blood then flows through other nearby veins instead.
Symptoms
Varicose veins can almost always be identified by their blue or purple color and twisting, bulging, or cord-like appearance. This condition occurs most often in the legs where the blood is farthest away from the heart.
Some patients are bothered by the way varicose veins look, while others experience itching, pain, and tiredness in their legs.
In the most extreme cases, patients suffer bleeding, vein hardening, and skin ulcers near the ankle. These symptoms indicate serious vascular disease. If you are experiencing any of them, you should seek medical attention.
Advantages:
1.Clinically Proven Relief from Varicose Veins
Countless research studies have proven that endovenous laser ablation is one of the safest and most effective ways to permanently eliminate both varicose and spider veins. A study published in the JAMA Dermatology journal in 2012 revealed that endovenous laser ablation produced vein removal results that were comparable to those achieved during a traditional, surgical vein stripping procedure. In fact, the rate of recurrence of a treated vein was actually lower after endovenous laser ablation.
2.Quick and Easy Treatment
Each endovenous laser ablation treatment typically takes no longer than one hour to complete. This procedure is so simple and minimally-invasive that patients do not need to be administered any kind of anesthesia before treatment.
3.No Downtime
Patients can return back to their daily activities on the same day or the day after receiving an endovenous laser ablation treatment. While patients must make sure to walk around periodically to promote healthy blood flow to their legs following treatment, most experience little to no post-procedure pain or discomfort.
4.High Success With Low Cost
Clinical studies using laser therapy for varicose veins have shown a success rate up to 98%. Costs of the procedure are eligible for Medicare and private insurance coverage. The cost-effectiveness of EVLT procedures makes it quite an approachable treatment method compared to other important surgeries.
Scope of treatment:
varicose veins of the lower limbs are common. In addition to the lower limbs, varicose veins may occur in the upper limbs, head and neck, chest, trunk, back, and abdomen. Varicose veins in other areas are generally rare and have no pathological significance. If the patient has cirrhosis, ascites, etc., it can also cause superficial abdominal varicose veins, which has pathological significance at this time. Varicose veins are mostly caused by poor reflux of the superficial veins alone.
